How to identify your scalp?
Knowing your scalp is key to choosing the right shampoo:
- Oily: you notice oiliness between the first and second day.
- Medium: oily notes between the third and fourth day.
- Dry: from the fifth day onwards or you don't even notice it.

Dry scalp: Meseret Talaku Solid Shampoo

Hair porosity
Porosity is the hair's ability to absorb and retain moisture. It depends on how open or closed the hair cuticles (the outermost layer of the hair) are.
How to know your porosity?
- If your hair is healthy, like a child's, or you've cared for it well without exposing it to chemicals or heat tools, you likely have low porosity.
- Medium porosity is found in hair that has suffered minor damage, such as occasional use of flat irons or hair dryers, or that exhibits some dryness and frizz.
- If your hair has been subjected to chemicals such as dyes, highlights, or straightening, you likely have high porosity.

Hair thickness
Thickness is the diameter of each individual strand of hair.
It has nothing to do with the amount of hair (that's called density). It can be fine, medium, or thick.
How to identify your thickness?
Compare three strands of your hair to a sewing thread:
- Thinner than thread → fine hair
- Similar to yarn → medium hair
- Thicker than thread → thick hair
Thin, soft, but fragile strands.
- It tangles easily and requires light products.
Perfect balance.
- Accepts most products without caking.
Stronger and fuller-bodied strands.
- Requires intense hydration and thicker fixatives.
Now that you know your porosity and thickness
